NEW Course Highlight for Winter 25 - Biomedical Imaging

This winter is the premiere of a brand new class for students interested in a future in medical imaging - Dr. Michael Walsh and Dr. Heather Whitney will be teaching a yet to be numbered course titled “Biomedical Imaging”! If you’re looking for a course to add to your Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in the morning then ask a BIO advisor about this course!

 This will be the start of a series of courses all related to imaging, microscopy and big data analysis. The first course will cover everything from X-Ray, MRI, Ultrasound, CT, and nuclear imaging - how they work, their applications, and even real world examples. Dr. Walsh is also excited to introduce students to concepts like bioethics and the use of artificial intelligence that are changing the field of biomedical imaging every day.

 Dr. Malamy, the BSCD Master, felt that students needed a new pathway into imaging, something that some students might otherwise not get a lot of experience with until after their undergraduate studies. Dr. Walsh’s experience in his Spectral Pathology Lab, and developing biomedical engineering programs at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and the New York Institute of Technology, made him more than fitting for the job.
